was born in Gütersloh, Westphalia in
1962.
He studied music at the Westphalian School of Sacred Music in Herford
and in 1983 went
to the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende
Kunst in Stuttgart, where he had a.o. Dr. Ludger Lohmann (organ),
Adu Frederica Faiss (piano) and Helmut Lachenmann (music theory)
as his teachers.
He continued his studies with Martin Haselböck in Lübeck,
Daniel Roth in Paris, Zsigmond Szathmáry in Freiburg and
Sergiu Celibidache in Mainz. In 1989 a scholarship by the German
Academic Exchange Service enabled him to study with Dr. Hans Haselböck
in Vienna.
His international career was launched in 1988 when he won first
prize in the international organ competitions in Dublin and Odense.
Mr. Liebig was teaching at the Music Academies in Lübeck and
Oslo and from 1996 - 2001 has been cantor at Sagene kirke,
so called Nordkantkatedrale in Oslo where he also conducted
Oslo Bach Ensemble .

He has performed to outstanding acclaim with extensive repertoire
from Robertsbridge Codex to Avant-garde and has a full
schedule of concerts, recordings for radio and television and master
classes which takes him to most of the European countries, to Asia
and the USA, e.g. he was invited to the Festival Suisse de l’Orgue,
Copenhagen Summer Festival, Wexford Opera Festival, Odense Bach
Week, Oslo Baroque Music Festival, Wiener Festwochen, Schleswig-Holstein-Musik-
Festival,
Festival Musical Spring St. Petersburg, Lahti Organ Festival, Jornadas
Internacionales de Órgano Zaragoza, 41º festival internazionale
di musica organistica magadino Festival Internacional de Órgão
de Lisboa, IX Festival Organistico Internazionale Di Bari, Haarlemer Sommerkonzerte St. Bavo kerk, El Sonido vivo (Castilla y Leon) and XVI Festival Organistico Internazionale di Treviso and to summer concerts at the Oude Kerk and Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. Member of the jury for international organ competitions.
